I was booting up my computer and notice problems due to a non boot disk that I accidentaly left in the drive. I pulled it out and tried to boot up again and got the BLUE Screen of Death. I emmediately shut it down and rebooted once more with no luck. I finally attempted to restore my operating system with Compaq's Windows Me restore CD and got nothing but a big RED screen which read SEEK TECHNICAL SUPPORT or words to that effect. I need help does any one have any ideas or suggestions about the solution to this problem?

Compaq sells somethig called Quick restore CD's. you can order it here https://www.orderz.com/qrcons/page1.aspe when I had ME and crashed my only computer so bad it wouldn't start i called them on the phone to buy them. it cost $10.00 for a 3 cd set that completely refomats your hard drive and reinstalls everything just like a new computer. This is what to use when the Recovery CD won't work. It worked for me.

The quick restore set works ok but you will lose all your files, programs you have installed, your ISP setup info etc. Did you create a rescue boot floppy as per the instructions on the compaq rescue cd? Do you have a ME bootdisk? Compaq creates a partition for the rescue info on a D drive something like SAV_rescue, or restore, it's been a while. Can you get into safe mode to check if it's there? Reboot tapping the F8 key. Not sure about this but I think you should be able to access the rescue cd using the conventional boot disk available here: http://bootdisk.com/ Or thru setting your machine to boot from the cd thru the BIOS screen. Unless you have created a "user backup file" on the rescue partition as per the instuctions on the rescue cd information sheet you will probably end up with the same original configuration setup as if using the Quick Restore CD set. The recue CD is a good idea but it is dependent on the user keeping the rescue file up to date and properly set up. I could be wrong. Others might have more detailed information, Chronic might be right the Qick Restore set might be the way to go. It does work. hth shep

forgot something If you can get into safe mode you may be able to do a generic system restore thru the start>programs>system tools>system restore function to an earlier date before the problem. shep
