I tried to install windows 2000 overwriting my windows me. Unfortunately, I did not realise that it cannot be done. After installation completed I found that my modem does not work and cannot be found and also my audio sound system does not work as well and cannot be found. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

Just means your modem and sound adapter are newer than the version of Windows knows about. You will have to identify what OEM vendor chip set is used for each and download their device drivers for the version of Windows you now have installed and install them. This is normal. Windows ?? only has "default drivers" for most hardware, but not all. You have to find and install new updated drivers for all of your hardware. Remember, Windows ME and 2000 are now almost five years old. That is a long time for computers and there has been a lot of new hardware designs which require new software drivers.

WinME & Win2K are two different animals. It is not recommended to upgrade...you should have formatted & done a clean install.

WinME drivers are not compatible with Win2K. If Win2K seems to work OK other than the problems you mentioned, locate/download & install 2K compatible drivers for your chipset, video, sound, modem, etc
