I have been upgrading some PCs in the office. On about 80% of the Dells the date reverts to Jan 1980 12:00 AM. You can change the time and it will stay the same until you reboot. At restart it will be back to Jan 1980 12:00 AM.

Sounds like CMOS batteries are going/are dead. Seems strange that its happening on 80% of the machines though.

if you're upgrading all of these computers... what do the 80% have in common that the 20% don't?

software? hardware? a different part of the building?
