Nearly very time I start up my computer the white Windows ME screen freezes. After hitting the restart button on my PC the computer reboots and the Windows startup menu comes up. When I select normal it usually works fine... but from time to time I have to restart a few times before it lets me into Windows. I think the problem may have something to do with the three boot devices I've selected (1st boot device: IDE-0, 2nd boot device: Floppy and 3rd boot device CDROM.) When the computer does start normaly it says "Searching for boot record from IDE-0..OK" at the bottom of the screen. Once I do get into Windows it'll always restart fine as long as I don't select shut down. The problem only occurs when I totally shut the computer down. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dustin, several things come to mind when reading your post. First thing that occurs is what happens if you make the sucessful boot device the first place to look by altering the order in your BIOS settings?
Next is that ME had a shutdown problem as did all 98 based machines. Try disabling fast shutdown and see if that helps. If not, I use a stand alone called 'Slawdog' to do the trick and it always works properly. Get it free @:
