After installing Win me, I cant get my sytem to defrag or Scandisk. It acts as normal but just keeps running as if there is some glitch. i left it running for a whole night and it was still running in the morning. I noticed it when I tried to use the Uninstall for ME. Anyone else having the same issue and if so, does anyone have the fix so that I can unistall Win ME without reformatting.

I had the same problem, scandisk not completeing. There is an old Posting in This Forum, posted September 16 Tittled Norton, when a Johnathan fixed the problem useing Disk Doctor from Norton Utilities V4. I only had an old V3, which I never got round to installing. I duely installed same, ran Disk Doctor and Hey Presto, scandisk runs clean in Windows ME

ScanDisk works for me, but at the WRONG time. EVERY time a turn my PC on, ScanDisk starts to run. For some reason, it thinks I've done an ilegal shutdown. How do you disable ScanDisk? Yet when I turn my PC off by the power switch, it boots up fine the next time I turn it on.

I have the same problem. runing in safe mode does not help. I have a 20 gig and a 10 gig works ok on the smaller one but get status message in defrag "finding new data" and then restarts from beginning. This is a new drive but maybe I need a new driver. Any Ideas?
