I'm currently using an old computer with Windows 98SE installed and am considering buying a used one that has Windows ME installed. However, I want to use software that requires "at least Windows 2000" and thought that Windows ME was older than Windows 2000. But the current ownder of the computer with ME installed says that ME is the "same" as Windows 2000. Is he right? Thanks. Terry
Nope - ME (much like 98) runs on a DOS based system, Win2K, like WinXP, is built on NT (no actual DOS) - very different
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Win 2000 is good for an office O/S where you would network many PC's together, where WinMe is more for a home user with many more applications for working with photos and games, streaming music and video. You can also condider WinXP home or office addition, which offers the best of both worlds on each edition ! IMHO
