windows me only starts in safe mode

HY i have a dell inspiron comp and have me on it but it only starts in safe mode with no icons or taskbar showing on the desktop can someone please help

Reinstalling windows should solve the problem. You can directly reinstall windows without formatting so you won't lose your documents. Answer me back if that solves the problem!

Click on RUN. Typen in misconfig and OK. Click on general tab and see if normal startup is checked.

yea my start button doesnt appear or no icon either so i dont know how you would do that if possible please help me thanx.

Sounds like OS re-install time. Start button should appear along with icons (entire desktop). Make sure the CD drive is bootable and pop in the ME CD and restart-install.

press ctrl+alt+del once and see if some program is in "not responding" state. if there is one, try ending it.
in some cases, this shows taskbar, icon, start button etc.
