Windows ME MSHTML Problem

Comment:
OK - just reinstalled ME after a number of spyware/hijacker issues, but now when I try to launch internet explorer, I get messages saying various files have caused an error in MSHTML.dll. I get similar messages if I try to launch the Window Media player, or if I try to access control panel, or if I try to use the search facility. There seems to be a lot of spyware which I remove with Hijack this, Adaware SE and spybot - (main spyware seems to be SE.dll and about blank). I cannot access internet from the PC, so cannot download patches etc - what can I do??

Martin Monument, my gut's telling me that you're still suffering ill effects from a nasty (trojan comes to mind). Some can be REALLY persistant and if they damaged or infected the MBR sector of your HDD, may cause problems down the road with 'new' installations. Solution? All I know of require internet acess. Perhaps someone can provide you cleaners on removable media? HTH. Ed in Texas.
