windows me looks like safe mode?

CPU/Ram: 128mb
Product: dell inspiron 5000e

i just wiped my hd, reinstalled windows me, and now
everthing is abnormally big, my background was initially just
gray, but when changing it to the clouds background it was
gray and white. it appears as though it is in safe mode. i
can't change it's appearance in the desktop properties. any
help?

Go to Dell's website. Enter the Service Tag for your laptop and you can obtain the video drivers, as well as any other ones you need.

Exactly! And you never should have formatted given that fact.

What about the rest of your drivers? Motherboard chipset, sound, modem, LAN, etc? I'm sure the video isn't the only thing that's not working properly.

Heh - and it's not a term I use lightly.

For an aspect of Windows that has barely changed since the early nineties, I'm always a bit amazed at how often this confounds so many.

(formatting is its own reward?)

I'm not one of those who think Bill Gates is the devil. I simply suspect that if Microsoft ever met up with the devil, it wouldn't need an interpreter
