Need help Now.... half of my windows files and folders have completely gone, including the C:\windows\desktop... were i keep every thing... i dont have a clue wats happened, it was in safe mode doing an anti-spyware scan when we had a power cut, now theres nothing left of windows, i doing a os install in the hope of booting my sys, but it keeps telling me to install into C:\instal~1 as default :S.... ive decided to install to C:\windows instead, in hoping there be enough of my system left for me to do a scanreg then install a back date of reg... (not very optimistic tho)... it looks like im gonna have to reclone my sys, but all my drivers and system backup were in u guessed it... desktop... i really need help or at least some way i can recover some if not all of my data :(

Dear darklord51, Boot from the ME boot floppy. When the A: prompt is appeared switch to C:, and all other drives. Type "dir" I think there is nothing happened to your computer. Some system files missing, or corrupted. Check your desktop by entering dos commands. If you dont know, like this; When A: prompt; C: CD windows CD desktop Dir (press enter each time) To back, CD.. (Enter) If you have ME Installation CD, insert it and install ME normally. If you dont have, it will be in the Windows>Options>Install folder. Move to that directory, type Setup, press enter. ME will normally installed, it will not delete any previous files. It will fix if there is any corrupted files. Also wait for more professional advise from our friends. Thanking you sree
