I used to access internet (Dial Up)in my lap regularly with no problems at all.Recently,my son removed few files (most probably system files). After that I am being able to get connected by dialup but not being able to browse any webpages. All the time 'Webpage not found' message appears.I reinstalled I/E and created new Dial Up Connection but nothing changed.A friend of mine suggested that some protocols of TCPIP must have got deleted and I need to reinstall my OS again. Right now I donot have the CDs for the OS. Would be really grateful, if you could please help me solve this problem. Many thanx and best regards.

P.S:One more thing, after the files have been deleted, every time I boot the laptop, I get a message from Norton asking me to verify my TCP/IP and also stating that there is a Port110 error and my emails are no longer virus-protected.Please help. The situation is really critical.Thanx and sincere regards.

Do a system restore to revert the drive back to a date in which all your files were intact.

I've been away from ME for quite sometime now. And didn't use it long when I had it, but I'll give it a shot. About clear as mud but maybe I can get you in the general direction. Try this:- Right click on "My Computer"
- Choose "Properties"
- Go to the "Performance"-tab
- Click on the "File System..."-button
- Go to the "Trouble Shooting"-tab
If that doesn't work. I believe it is in the PCHealth folder. Do a search for it. Start/Search or find and search drive C: for a folder called PCHealth. Maybe someone will come along shortly and give better instructions. Best I can do for now. Sorry.

Click on start.
Click on programs.
Click om accessories.
Click on system tools.
Click on System Restore.
You will the have two options. Take the option "Restore my computer to an earlier time".Hope this helps

Hi Friends,

Thanx for all your suggestions and your advices.

I tried doing the System Restore but the option of previous dates in the calendar is not available. I guess the old record files needed for System Restore had also got deleted somehow.

I am at my wit's end.

Any further suggestions please...

Thanx and regards

Hi there. Heres some questions that might help you.
Did you disable the Norton software before reinstalling Internet Explorer?
Have you tried installing a different browser such as mozilla or netscape just to see if it's browser-related?
Are you still able to send out emails and use other web-related software?
Also try to boot up with just the minimum software you need to connect and browse the web.
-good luck
