windows me hangs on startup

My WinMe hangs on startup when loading the taskbar applets. this happens 80% of all startups. Reinstalled 2 times and now stopped using Windos at all. But I still have double boot with Linux, so if someone knows a workaround for this silly bug I'll give Win another change. For gaming only, not for serious work or Internet or E-mail and so on

You need to look through your Startup tab list (using MSCONFIG) and see what your system is starting that is causing the problem. ScanRegistry, SystemTray, *StateMgr and two LoadPowerProfile lines should be there. You can remove the Taskmonitor and PCHealth lines and LexStart if they are there. Any other should be investigated as to what they are (CD-RW, Modem = OK), to see if they are not needed or if they are a virus or Spyware_AD-ware.
It would have really help if you bothered to say what Anti-Virus and Spyware checks have been done and what was in your Startup list that is not Windows ME defaults, and what printer you have.
