I just bought new computer with Windows ME. ON first start up began receiving the following error message:

MSOOBE has experienced and error in MSHTML.DLL. If you continue to experience this problem try restarting your computer.

Then as soon as you click the close button the computer turns off. And this same message appears upon restarting the computer.

What is happening and why and what can I do to remedy it. The support tachs recommended I reformat but this is a BRAND new computer (???)

Thanks

If you just bought it, it still on warranty, right? If you are having troubles with it now on a clean system (kind of sort of), just wait til a few months down the road. I would take it back and get a new one and see if that one doesn't work or if you get the same error message. If you get the same error message, it is probably something you installed.

Hello. I have a slight problem. I'm also getting an error with MSHTML.dll, but only when I open one of my bookmarks AND I'm running 98, not ME.

Any ideas?

Hi I have the same problem as Marie. Windows 98 - IE 5.5. It s boring - did everything whats written at the Windows-Support-page, nothing fits.
Can anybody give a tipp?
Exact error: MSHTML.DLL at 015f:7000961c

Thank you

The error is caused by IE 5.5. IE5.5 contains a bug in combination with ME and sometimes also with 98. Download and install a newer version of IE or use another browser.

I've met such a problem.
You needn't install newer IE, instead, you need a new version of mshtml.dll, replace the old one in safe mode.
