Comment:

I just upgraded to ME. I have a CD-Rom and a DVD drive. Windows ME sees the CD drive fine, and also knows the DVD is there, but is not assigning a drive letter to it.

When running Win98, I always used the real-mod DOS drivers to work with the CD drives (because they were easier), but WinME doesn't support real mode. How do allow the computer to have more Drive letters higher than E:?

System Data:
AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.4 GHz
512 MB Ram
40.0 GB HDD (primary IDE master)
64 MB AGP nVidia GeForce2 MX-400
SoundBlaster Live!
52X CD-ROM (secondary IDE master)
10X DVD-ROM (secondary IDE slave)
AMR HSP56 Modem

Head into the registry.

Go to start>>run>>regedit.
Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup

Make sure "lastdrive" and "memphislastdrive" are both set to Z.

If not, change the value by double clicking on each one of those entries on the right hand side and changing the letter.
