Hola,

I am having some troubles with my display on my Windows Me. It has been stuck at 640x480 and 16 color for awhile now. It use to be fine but then I restarted my computer one day and it went into to safe mode. I took it out of safe mode but it is still 640x480. I have tried going on properities and trying to change but no luck. I have searched around. I think Windows Me is the devil but it is the only computer I have. Does anyone know how to help me?

David Cummings, SWAG, maybe this'll help, maybe not. Try a RIGHTCLICK on a blank area of your desktop and look under properties to see if you can alter resolution. That assumes you've tried the display settings in the control panel and failed.

You are going to need to reinstall your video driver - the Dell site will have the drivers you need: you will need to enter the model name to get the correct driver

http://support.euro.dell.com/support/index.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs

I have assumed Dell UK but the US site is available here

http://support.euro.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx

Post back if no success.

What about taking a look at device manager ? Right click on My Computer folder on your desktop and then click on properties. Click on the Device Manager tab, then expand the display adapter catagery .If its showing a yellow exclamation mark ,this may point to a display driver problem possibly corrupted driver ,and need to uninstall it and install a fresh driver. A red X maay indicate a hardware problem ,you can try the remove in device manager ,follow the prompts and then on reboot the system, should automatically detect the hardware and prompt you to reinstall it ,sometimes by reinstalling it will fix this problem ?
Good Luck Nick

A new graphics card David. The default setting is 640x480 x 16 so with all other options tried are exhausted, put in a graphics card.

By the way, I have a relation called David Cummings, is it you???? my mum was Olive Cummings with a brother called David, plus 4 sisters.

Download and unzip the following file into your C:/Windows/system folder:

http://www.freefileupload.net/file.php?file=files/130206/1139849462/drivers.zip

Right click on My Computer.
Go down to Properties.
Click on device manager.
Click on Display Adaptor.
Double click on whatever display adaptor is (probably VGA something.
Click on the driver tab.
Click on update driver.
Keep clicking next until you see a 'specify a location' option.
Type in C:/Windows/system
The driver should update, restart your computer and you should be able to change your screen res etc.

Don't put a question here.
