I'm having trouble with my desktop configuration. I recently had a Trojan-Virus; it gave me the blue background of death. Anyhow, I've seemed to remove most of the symptoms, but now that I removed the desktop of death, I cannot change my desktop to a 32-bit color setting. It has defaulted to 16-bit, and it doesn't give me the option for a 32-bit setting. I tried reinitializing my monitor settings, but this does not change anything. I can't even change to a 256 color setting after rebooting the computer.
Any one have any suggestions? Please let me know. Thanks.

This question has been asked many, many times on this site. You'll need to download and install the drivers for your video card.
Soylent Green is PEOPLE!!!

Your description is a little fuzzy, but it sounds like you had one of those trojans (like Smitfraud) that replaced your desktop wallpaper with an image resembling a BSOD 'system warning'. Are there tabs missing from the display properties screen?
Computers in the future may have only 1,000 vacuum tubes and perhaps only weigh 1 1/2 tons.

Jennifer SUMN, thank you for your suggestion. After identifying my video card as a 'NVIDIA Vanta LT (Compaq),' I tried searching for the driver online. But unfortunately, I cannot find it. I did find many other types of NVIDIA drivers, but not the one I need. Even the NVIDIA website doesn't have it, or I just don't know where to find it.
jboy, thanks for your help. As a matter of fact, I did have the 'Smitfraud' virus, and it replaced my desktop. Originally, I was missing the tabs to change my settings. But after I removed the virus, the tabs re-appeared. Now, I just cannot change my desktop resolution to a 32-bit, in fact it doesn't give me the option. I would like to try Jennifer SUMN's suggestion in re-installing the driver. But, now I just having a hard time finding it online.
I'll look into this more and follow-up. Thanks again for all your help.
