interested in a product called
(windows rescue m.e.) by super win software.
at http://www.regvac.com
my question is , when you use these downloads to back up your system, do you have to keep a diskette loaded and ready in your drive when you want to back up? how does it work? please visit the url, and check it out for me after i download, then what? put in a diskette, click backup, leave diskette in? totally confused
but i know not for long on this forum.
thanks very much, bill:)

Bill, I use Win RescueME and I do a backup every day. I usually back up before I install a application etc.

Win Rescue ME backs up to it's own folder with the date on it (15.06.2002). So you can save it to a floppy if you wish.

I think you would find it's a programe you would run from a download on your machine.

I think that what it does for the money is limited compared to a tool I use , System Mechanic, which over the past few months they have been stacks of updates.
This is also a 30 day trial and the first day I ran it it recovered 1.5gb extra space.
You could go for free tools that will do the job , but this combines a great package of a lot in one. (Sounds like a commercial).
I purchased it and I've never been sorry I did, it's proven itself many times.

Have a look, you may have guessed, I love it.

thanks john, is it necessary to save it to floppy? can i just keep it in there folder?if i did that, meaning keeping it just in there folder that is, would i still be able to rescue my self in a crash, how would i get to the folder? i guess if my hard drive went
then the floppy would be an advantage, right? i don't create anything that needs constant back up, just my normal surfing, e mail, etc, sort of things. i hear back up every day and i'm getting a little paranoid
about it:)
anyway, thanks again bill.;) p.s. what would you suggest about backing up?

Billy, I would just make sure you make a start-up disc to reboot with, if you haven't already. Wouldn't you agree John?

thats one of the first things i did when i got this computer, was make a boot disk.
thanks again for your assist, but i do have a boot disk question, how often should you make one? for instance everytime you make a system change, startups, new programs, any thing different then when you first made the very first boot disk from the m.e utility or would the first one be good enough?
thanks again, bill:)
