Hi,
I am about to reformat my laptop toand install both Windows ME and Linux. The computer has an 8 GB harddisk. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions about partitioning. I thought that I would use 4 GB for Windows and 4 GB for Linux.
Does anyone have any experience running Linux and ME on the same computer? Which OS should I install first?
Thanks.

Use fdisk found on your windows me boot disk to delete/recreate a primary and extended partition when asked what size to make the primary partition delete the numbers and type in 50%, when you create the extended partition just choose the maximum cuz it will be the remaining disk space. Format the partition.Install windows ME on the primary first. Then install linux on the extended. During the linux setup you will be prompted to create a lilo bootdisk. This disk when inserted into your floppy drive upon startup will give you a boot menu.
Options will be Linux or windows.:)

I'm dual-booting Windows Me and Mandrake-Linux 8.0. Here is how I did it...
1) Installed Windows.
2) Ran defrag and scandisk (Mandrake said to before install of Linux).
3) Installed Linux. During install, Linux gives option to "erase Windows", "use free disk space", or "custom partioning". I chose custom. Resized partition with "Diskdrake" (part of Mandrake, so no 3rd party software needed). Set Linux partition to about half, pressed enter and was done with it.
4)No need to delete and create partitions as in above post, Diskdrake handles that.
