I cannot... use System Restore. I have heard that Media Player #9 (what I have), can be a problem w/ System Restore. Does anybody know anything abt this matter? I run "ME", w/ NAV, AD-AWARE, SYGATE, AD-SUBTRACT, & security is set to "Medium". What's-wrong?????????? Thx to all! DAVE

I've never heard of WMP9 causing System Restore problems. Can you provide a link to such information?

I have heard of corrupt restore points causing System Restore problems. The only solution for this that I have read is to disable SR, reboot then enable it again (reboot again). This clears restore points, so it may defeat the purpose for the situation you may be in.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/faq.aspx#2_3 This only applies to windows XP. Seems media player9 causes system restore problems ie..Rollback with windows ME.

That's the only way to uninstall WMP9 in ME, by using System Restore to restore to a time before installing WMP9. This does not remove all files however, from what I have read. I don't have a problem with 9, but I haven't used SR in a long time.

To fix some problems with WMP, the advice seems to be to reinstall the same or a newer version over the top, don't try to uninstall first.
