When starting the OS, it does not prompt me for the user name and password. I religiously followed the instructions to set up the users and passwords, changed the Primary Network Logon to Windows Logon and rebooted. Still I cannot get the Windows logon to be enforced at boot up. Any idea?

Go to Find / Files & Folders, type *.pwl and click Find Now. Delete any file with a .pwl extension. Reboot the computer and Windows should prompt you to enter a new password.
However, be aware that the only reason for using a Windows password is to protect your own desktop colours and stuff like that. It will not prevent somebody from booting to the desktop and using the machine. All they have to do is to click the "Cancel" button and Windows will boot to the desktop.

I forgot to mention that if you want to prevent anybody from using the machine while you are away, you should enable a BIOS password. The only way to override that is to either type the same password in, or use either a dipswitch or jumper to clear it. But both of those require the user to access the system board. You can prevent that by padlocking it.

Or BIOS password can be disabled by removing the CMOS battery from Mobo. Also, there are many known default passwords from BIOS companies.

Screensaver Password will keep someone from walking up and using your puter if you want to leave it on. However, without a BIOS password they can reboot to get on.
Also, for network logon, I believe you want to select "Client for Microsoft Networks" not "Windows Logon"

HI
You can make a change to your registry which will force all users to login, ie they will not be able to bypass it using ESC.
Use the link below and find
"Home : Security : Login and Authentication""Force Users to Logon to Windows"
http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/629/
This could help.
You may also find help with locating your login, as there are changes that can hide it.Good luck.
It works for me.
