Using Windows Me, in windows explorer when I select the folders view button in the toolbar the pane for the folders is just a big gray box. I can't get the folders to display.

Did you click on Tools, Folder options dialog box and activate one of the option buttons?

In Win98 you can toggle Web view on and off for specific folders (via Windows Explorer's View, as Web Page command) In Windows Me, Web view is either on or off for all folders.
