I recently upgrades Win98SE to WinME. Let's tried to upgrade. I got to the point where on installation screen says "approximately 13 minutes left". Then nothing is happening for a fair a bit of time. And here we go ....REBOOT. The same thing over and over again. Any suggestions much appreciated.

You can fix the computer by doing a full or clean re-install.Use the Win 98 or ME boot disk to get a dos prompt on the 'A' diskette drive. If your Windows ME is an upgrade version you will be asked for the Win 98 CD to check the license validity along with the CD serial key for Win ME.Format the primary C drive(the bootable one): format c: /q /u Switch your prompt to the CD-ROM drive and run setup.Always press enter after each command line. cd\ d: setup You will need the drivers for all your hardware like sound, modem, video card, etc.Run these drivers programs from Windows after initial setup has completed.Check in the configuration panel under System Properties to see if you have any hardware conflicts. You would see the yellow exclamation mark (!).If you have any, delete the line in the System properties and reboot the computer for hardware detection.Good luck.
Is there any other ways to fix it? Not to do clean re-install.Would like to save my registry and stuff.

Your original registry is corrupted and would be no use at this point. The Windows ME system keeps track of the most recent registry saves by date and it is helpful to make a registry restore at least until it is no more possible to use it. You can probably use dos and a zip program to save some text files important to you. This is a tedious work to attempt. For larger files you would need a CDRW working from dos to be able to burn the CDR with all the important files. Most of us ordinary people do not use daily incremental backups to tape drive or other media but it is still the only way to survive a major computer or Windows system breakdown .Good luck.
