I have just refurbished a HP computer. When I turn it on with a ps/2 mouse it cant detect the mouse ever so I think I burned out the mouse port. So I went to using a USB mouse It works normally except when I turn the computer on. It will start the HP splash screen and just freeze up there. If I take the mouse out and turn it on without a mouse it will boot up fine and I just plu the mouse in after Windows ME boots up and the USB mouse works fine. How can I make it where I dont have to keep unplugging and plugging the mouse back in everytime I want the start the computer. Any advice will be apprecated. Thanks

It seems to be a IRQ conflict. I know that I have seen many problems with USB products that do this. Most of the time it is due to a IRQ conflict with the sound card.
