When I do shutdown everything goes as should (hard disks stops etc) until my pc should power off. Then I get screen "Now it's safe to turn off your computer" if I press power button it does same as reset-button. I can only power off my pc when its starting again. I didn't see that "Now its safe..." when I was running Win98, it switched it self off before that screen. I hope someone has solution for me...

Is Advanced powermanagement turned on? It should be in the control panel, it is the same with windows Pro 2000.

My problem is, that when I try to restart windows ME, it turns everthing off except the power, so my system won't restart... Is this a normal problem? :(

I have this problem too. When I shut down my monitor goes blank but don't power off and the system hangs. I'm looking all the day long for driver in startup that don't allow to power off and i find it! NDIS.VXD !!!
You can try to turn off this vxd using MSCONFIG.exe.
Then I reinstall the newest drivers for my net card (3Com 905B) and turn on standard NDIS.VXD driver. My system works properly.

I had the same problem, but seem to have fixed it through the power schemes (under Display Properties/Screen Save tab/Energy saving features of monitor/settings). Chose Power scheme: always on; turn off monitor after 10 minutes; turn off hard drive after 1 hour. Under System standby: never. At System hibernate: never. Under Advanced: when I press power button: hibernate. Under hibernate: enable. You might have to do the advanced setting first to get the other sections to show hibernate functions. Good luck.
