Same thing happened to me. I have an AMD K7-800, 256MB RAM, And the cause to the problem: my Creative 3D Blaster Riva TNT2 Ultra graphics card. The Win98 drivers didn't work, and when I "searched for a better driver", it found the NVIDIA driver and guess what? It worked! Almost...everything seemed to work OK except the games that ran OpenGL. Anyway, what people have told me, is that there is an AGP bug in ME. In your BIOS you can find something called "AGP Aparture Size" or something like that (4-8-16-32-64-128-256MB) My card has 32MB Video Memory, therefore this setting would be 32MB. If the setting is set to "AUTO", I think ME thinks you have 64MB on your card and f---s itself up. Hope this has been to any help :)

Same thing here. ME isn't compatible with a lot of programs I used. I found doing a clean install worked. When you reinstall programs and try to use them you willknow which apps are not compatible. For me it was Nortan Antivirus and Utilites 2000.

same here. Tons of trouble installing ME. When it did finally make it through, all I could get was blue screen - windows protection error. Even locked up trying to get into safe mode. The only part of Win ME to work flawlessly was the UNINSTALL option. It is now off and I will be trying to get a refund. 98SE for me....

Same for me. K6-2 450, 128 meg, Voodoo Banshee PCI, S7MVP3. Cant get past the hardware detection part of install without a bsd, protection error. I am able to boot into safe mode and yes, the best part of it is uninstal.exe. Dont feel like reformating since I have a perfectly good Win98SE setup.
