Win Me Internet dialup

I upgraded from Win 98se to Win Me yesterday, everything seemed fine but when trying to connect to the internet the connection would hang at the verify password. Deleting the old dialup account and setting up a new one with the connection wizard did no good. I've gone back to Win 98se and everything is working fine again. I've downloaded the latest drivers for the modem (a Creative Modem Blaster PCI DI 5630-4)in hopes that that they may do the trick but I'm looking for some suggestions before I go through the setup process again.

This is a big issue with ME upgrades. Go to Start>run>scanregw, Backup the registry. Thengo to the control panel> Add/remove programs> windows setup> communications> details> Remove the check on Dialup networking and hyper-terminal, NO to rebooting Then go to start>run>regedit Delete the key Hkey_Local_Machine\system\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock2 Close the registry editor and reboot the system. Then reinstall Dialup Networking by replacing the check. Reboot and try to connect to your isp Good Luck
