After reformatting and installing Win ME from Win 98 SE, I have no sound.
Under my device manager I see some devices not detected. Here is my list.
1. PCI Communication Device
2. PCI input controller
3. PCI Mass Storage Controller
4. PCI multimedia audio device
At this point I have no sound, can connect to the internet and that is about all I know. I have HP Pavilon and did print off a systems resource report before the reformat. I think I need the drivers for the aforementioned devices, but are not sure. I have noticed 'Riptide PCI audio legacy' and Rockwell PCI numerator' as well as many other devices on the old win 98 system resource report, but not sure what to do to make things right.
Any help is appreciated.

i formated my whole comp. and all my cards were FLOPPED.. now i got my internet working and my joystick. All i need now is my sound card.. please SOMEONE HELP ME
my sound card is called PCI MULTIMEDIA AUDIO DEVICE code 28 ... please if anyone can help me get my music running back on this comp.. e mail me ... THANKS

I have the exact problem as all of you.
The computer could not detect the PCI Multimedia Audio Device. And i have download the driver from soundblaster.com....but after i download and double click the .exe file, it just like nothing happened... i have tried several time, but it doesn't work!! Could anybody help me....thank you ....
my drivers is Sound Blaster Ensoniq Audio PCI & PCI 512

the PCI Audio device is not a driver. It is a message from windows telling you that the driver is missing. You will have to look at your sound card and note down the make/model/number on it. If you search this you may then be able to find the driver needed. loadza luv 4rm tizz
