win me and winamp problems

winamp started giving me an error message that says it cant associate the file type with one that winamp can open(the file is fine though). i have problems with other programs like this that run fine at start-up but then lock-up or error constanly after the comp has been running for awhile. i checked for viruses with a norton update and nothing. i did the windows critical updates and nothing. any help would be appreciated. thanks, larry

Larry, In explorer (windows key>E ) to open, go tools> folder options> File types. This gives you th option to open files in chosen applications. Hope thet helps???
Apart from that only guessing.Is your anti virus prog, uptodate?
