Hi, I used to have 64mb of ram with an AMD k6 2 proc + asus p5a mabo. Since the memery was barely enough my swap file became 71 mb. Now I have 128mb ram and it looks my comp works quiet fine without any problems. Should I or can I delete the swap file? Or how can get rid of it or can I get rid of it since it is too big now. :) Thnx in advance Oz

Let Windowz manage the swap space. You added more RAM so the SWAP space (nessary) will increase. You can create a custom SWAP but in the end you will forget that you did, then when a problem comes up Windows will crash and afterward will restore the SWAP back to C:\Windows. I have done all of the tweaks that you can think of with the SWAP and to me it seems that the best preformance came from moving the SWAP to the primary partition of a second hard drive and setting it as FIXED @ 2.5 times the available RAM.

Do NOT set the swap file to 2.5 times the size of your memory. Set the swap file the SAME size. For the most thorough discussion of swap files you will ever need or can imagine, go to www.rojakpot.com and look in the "Speed Demonz' Area."
