Win ME and HP Scanner 5200 Problem *HELP*

When I try to install the software for my HP Scanjet 5200C. Win ME will not let me install using USB Cable. Keeps insisting on Paralle Cables. Yet I have no problem with other USB Devices. Cannot find a fix on the HP site, anyone else have the same problem and is there a work around for it other than having to use the USB Cable?

The problem is that the HP CD overwrites the Me USB drivers and stops them working.

Is there no work around to keep HP from overwriting the USB so that I can install my HP ScanJet 5200C using the USB Connections?
Help would be appreciated.

I have a 6200C and I had to "manually" install Precision scan. Winme detected my scanner OK but I had to go use Explorer to install only the software in the precisionscan folder. BTW mine is USB only!

Dear Data Dan, I went into Explorer and installed everything on my HP Scanning Software CD-ROM I could...but I can't find the Precision Scan software on the CD...And when I tried to use what I DID install, got an error that scanner is not connected.

when I load cd-rom for HP5200c scanner, computor says no scsi found/or no scanner found? The green light on front of scanner is not on however light is on inside of scanner? Can you help?
