My HP Pavilion came with Win 98. After upgrading to Win ME, some of the special function buttons on the keyboard don't work anymore. HP says that the only way to make them work again is to revert back to Win 98.
Does anybody know how I can keep ME and get the buttons to work?

Im not an expert and i dont know which model you have....
My HP came with a multimedia keyboard and windows 98se.
I formatted then installed ME I then ran the keyboard exe to reinstall multimedia functions. It works perfectly. Ive done the same with 5 other HP PC's.What model HP do you have? You may be able to find the driver at the HP website or from your recovery cd.
Heres where i found mine

Hi! Hurke!
Couldn't you just go to a computer store and buy a new key board. Some of them are low cost. You can take it back to the store and tell them it wasn't the keyboard.----------Donald

You will find the keyboard drivers on the Application recovery CD it will not boot so just go into My Computer and right click on the CD-ROM drive where the recovery CD is and chose Explore and look for a folder called mmkbd or some thing like that and copy it to My Documents and open it and double click on the setup.exe icon and it will install the multimedia keyboard software and will work just the same as it did in Win98.

After running the setup search for this file and get rid of it
Hpmmkbd.iniThis is an HP redirection scam of some sort.
The only file you will need is this one
Mmkeybd.ini

I am very grateful to ShutMeUpOrDown and JPW because my keyboard works just fine again, what a happy day indeed!!!

I have the same problem but the only difference is i have xp, when i run the setup file then i get a msg saying i need to update Windows Script Host, i did that but i still get the msg, help!!
