will directx 9 work on my computer?

CPU/Ram: athlon 1.3 256ddr

i have directx 8.1 my video card is ati radeon 8500 i was wondering if i should download the new directx will my video card notice a difference? cause i think it suppors 8.1 not sure bout 9.0 i doubt it cause it just came out not to long ago..

:| DX9 hasn't been released yet, apart from an early Beta,so i'd stick to 8.1 if i were you.
