Why do people by OS's they know from experience will be buggy and then later complain? I ME worked perfectly then no one would need to purchase Whistler next year would they? IF 98SE worked perfectly who would need ME?

The same reason people buy other software. They want to be the first person to do X or load X. It really is sad, but it seems to be the way computer users are.
I assume that you have ME, so why did you buy it?? I have it and after the initial Microsoft error joy it is fine!

Hi, I don't mean not to buy it - what I'm getting at is all of the people here that seem surprised by errors, etc. - I expect these, and will come here for help and will try to help others where I can, though I won't complain like those who seem to expect a perfect operating system.

Many people do not upgrade.....if they are satisfied with the programs and features they are currently running. If you want to continue with the evolution of computers you have to upgrade. The choice it yours. If you dont need new or improved features no one is forcing you to upgrade. If a old 286 will suffice your needs........stay with that. If you want to play the latest games and run the latest programs....you must upgrade. Granted.......most software developers leave out existing features....for later releases to intice you to upagrade......but in the end the choice is yours. Your only other option is to design your own software.

This is not a free operating system. Nowhere on the package does it say it doesn't work or may be buggy. Quality products are always a comsumers expectation. It is not bought at flea markets where caveat emptor would prevail. Just because there is little choice except the last OS from this vendor doesn,t mean buyer expectation of disclosure and quality should be cast out.
