I have disabled system restore. I have also done something to my MP3's so now they don't open with Winamp they open with Window's Media Player. I am completely computer illiterate I'd like some help on this matter.

Nothing is wrong with the files themselves. Windows assigns programs to open various types of files. Windows Media Player 7 and later have a bad habit of trying to be the boss of everything and take over as the program of choice. All you need to do is open WinAmp, go to Options, Preferences, and then go to File Types. Now select the files you want WinAmp to play. Go to the next section marked Agent and check the box that says "Maintain File Associations."

That should take care of it.

Open Windows Media Player, go to options and in the file types section uncheck mp3 files. This might return the association to WinAmp. If it doesn't you might also try reinstalling WinAmp.

Good luck

Reinstalling Winamp will work. It was designed for playing MP3's and will steal the file association back.

I love winamp!
