What do you want your computer to have? First, AMD or Intel? SDRAM or DDR or rambus? USB 1.1 or 2.0? ATA-100 or 133? Lastly, what do you want this computer to do? for gaming? digital video editing? web surfing? Also, for the best deal, go on ebay

Ultra ATA-133, AGP 4X or better, support for large amount of RAM (3GB is overkill by a longshot), if AMD processor, get DDR, if P4, get RAMBUS. Check here: http://www.viavpsd.com/product/P4PB400_spec.jsp?motherboardId=41
3gb isnt overkill if your editing movies or audio tracks. I havent seen a game that needs that much but who knows :). You might move up to XP to take advantage of all that new hardware.
