Just the other day I ran the scandisk program for the C: drive. It found errors and was able to fix them all. However, I noticed that the number of bad sectors had gone up.

What is the use and meaning of fixing errors when the scandisk utility cannot recover the newly created bad sectors on the hard disk?

hello
your hard drive is starting to die start shoping for a new one and back up your data.
eventually you will lose sectors critical to windows.and it wont boot.
you can d/l hard drive testing utility and test your drive.
find out what make of hard drive you have and try one of these links.

Dave's right. Most errors can be repaired but that won't fix a dying drive.

If sector xxx is bad, scandisk will try to move the data to xxxx and mark xxx as not usable; then, if xxxx goes to hell scandisk tries another move...and on and on.

I'd get a new hdd while I could still recover data on this one.
