Hi, Can anyone help me out with this? For the past week I've been trying to clean out my computer from some kind of hijacker or something. Everytime I try to delete anything that looks like an adware. It ends up coming back again. I've also checked out my registry and found this file HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\drelkge789AEF5. In this file I've found these files eeennn, kkws, ppops, reel, ssites. They all contain some type of adware in it such as adult sites and search sites. Everytime I delete it from the registry, it comes right back. Can anyone please help me delete this from my computer? If you need additional info, let me know. Thanks :)

2hayngirlz, SWAG, be aware that ME and XP both have a feature called 'Restore'. A nasty (virus, spyware, etc) can hide there and since it is a 'Windows' file, Windows won't allow any alteration so long as it is active. The registry gets re-written on the next bootup and the last successful boot is used and since nasties don't count, the boot appears to be sucessful, thus a 'nasty' gets replicated.
The solution is simple (assuming that's the problem), TEMPORARILY disable Restore (in order to 'unprotect'), scan/clean, re-enable restore and try again. May have to reboot.
During the disable process, you will destroy ALL your restore points in XP, thus some folks disagree with that fix, feeling that any restore point (even a corrupted one!) is better than none at all. You can sidestep that pitfall by creating a new restore point as soon as you have a clean machine (applies to XP only). FWIW, I have used it on both ME & XP Pro with no lasting ill effects.
HTH.

Thanks Ed in Texas. I will try that. I already disabled my system restore when this whole pop ups and adware began because I couldn't go back to my previous restore point. So I hope it works after I clean it up and enable restore again. Let you know what happened. Thanks again :)

i have this exact same problem on my xp, been working on for a week now. i got my highjackers and adware thru a bloodhound trojan.
and i got ppops, and ssites as subfolders too.
did u get aurora popups too? if u got how to do it let me know. i was told just delete that whole file in the registry and something in this info too ( copied and pasted) dds the value:

"[File name of adware]" = "[File path to adware]"

to the registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

so that the adware is executed every time Windows starts.

In the right pane, delete the value:

"[File name of adware] = [File path to adware]"
