I am running windows ME on a 1.4ddr athlon sitting on an asus A7A266 motherboard. I looked at the temperature in Bios and it said the CPU was 67c.

I have tried searching, and I am getting temperatures from certain sites/forums saying be worried over 45c and AMD saying can run at 90c.

What is a safe temperature for the CPU?

Thanks Les.

67 is on the high side. Should consider a better heatsink. 45-55 is OK. AMD can run at 90c? You must be kidding.

At 90c, if you put a drop of water on your cpu, it would turn to steam

Hello there,

Okay I am in the USA, the temperature show F display. I don't know about the C display.

50-90F Safe
90-120F Caution
120+F Danger

I'm running Windows98 on an AMD XP 1700, and it's going at around 55C to 60C.
67 is a bit on the hot side, but shouldn't cause any problems.
