Can anyone tell me DLL or EXE file the windows logon dialog is stored in? If you do not understand what I mean I am asking what file I can find the resources that are used for the windows logon window when windows boots up.

Dear Luke,
You can find the windows logon dialog at this file.
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI's [Password Lists] section

i don't know if this will work for you. But i had this problem and here is what i did. I cancelled through login screen, removed *.pwl files, went to control panel--> users and removed all users, then here is the risky part some would say, be careful here, i went to the registry, and under local machine, goto network, then to logon, then there should be a key UserProfiles, double click it. Now set it to 0 (Value Datat to 0) close everything and restart. hope that helps

If I understand you Luke you are trying to find out which .DLL or .exe contains the Logon Dialog Resource( ie., icon, dialog box, etc.)? I am on the same quest so if you do find out let me know. I have combed the internet and programming resources alike and have come up empty-handed. Good Luck to us both!

try looking into windows\system\MPRSERV.DLL
pretty sure it at least contains the icon pack used for the logon dialog box, maybe it has some or all of the rest as well.
