Reply: (edit)Edmund, I have a GlobalWin FOP38 which has a fan speed of 6800 rpm and air delivery of 37.6 cfm for my 1.4 Athlon. Under low load ,CPU temperature is about 45 Celcius and it get as high as 50 Celcius when I play graphics intensive games. However, I have 3 case fan to help the air flow and maintaining the case temperature at about 33 to 38 Celcius. Read this review befor you buy: http://www.hardwarepub.com/reviews/fop38/ I hope that someone can give us a good indication on what is the nominal temperature for 1.4 Athlon CPU.
Thanks! EK

Reply: (edit)Edmund, I guess my thought on CPU fans is more as to what's below it.(HS) You could have a not so good HS and put a biger fan on and then yet a bigger fan and still not see any real gains. These days if you have a good HS that is where you will see the most improvment of geeting rid of heat from your CPU and with good case venting and fresh air brought into case as EK pointed earlier. The two go hand and hand in my book. Well that's just my thoughts on the matter anyway. STAR

Reply: (edit)The FOP38 is an older model, go to globalwin's site and check out their new stuff. I have a 1 Ghz TBird overclocked to 1.2 and use a globalwin WBK38 and it seldon breaks 100F even after a couple hours of gaming. Keep in mind also that you may need to add case fans (check out the delta's and Sunon's) to get good airflow.
