I really have trouble getting rid of some unexpected things that got on my PC. One of those is a weird toolbar that appears on every single folder in my Windows. It’s called IE Search Toolbar, but if I uncheck it in view-toolbars it’s still there the next time I go to any of the folders. Second thing is, every couple of minutes I get a pop-up called Web Dialer and if I close it I get next pop-up saying Already Running – Dialer. Third thing is that my home page changed in IE and I can’t change it back or to any other web page. The URL of the page is http://213.159.117.134/index.php and it’s called Cool Web Search. I tried different Spyware detection programs: Ad-Aware SE, Search & Destroy, CW Shredder and some others but they don’t seem to detect anything. I would love to find out what it is and how to get rid of whatever it is. If u can help me it would be great. Thanx everyone.

Uninstall everything from add and remove programs your not sure about. If you don't recognise what something is then either look it up and find out using google, or check your software disks for mention of the program.

If it's legitimate and you know what it is. It stays.

If you it's not legitimate or borderline. It goes.

Fully update Ad-Aware SE 1.05 and Spybot S&D 1.3 and make sure it's CWShredder 1.59.1 then run them all from safe mode.

Download HijackThis 1.98.2 and make sure you unzip it to somewhere sensible, like program files.

Then run an online virus scan and an online Trojan scan.

When you've done ALL these things, and only when, post a HijackThis log file on this thread.

If I see you haven't cleaned up properly though don't expect a good reaction.

Viking, thank you very much for your help. I hope I did everything you asked me for, but unfortunately I can't post HT log file here. The second I press "Submit Follow Up" the IE freezes. Thanx

So you can post a messsage here but not a message and a HJT log file ?

Mikey try putting a sentence or three at the top and put the log file underneath, then try it again.

I tried many times to post the log file, but I can't. I found a warning saying that HJT logs can not be posted on this site. Every time I try to post it the site freezes and the PC turns off by itself. I really have no explanation for this, but that's what happens. I can post this massage, but not the log file. Thank you for trying to help, but I guess I'm gonna have to format the PC to get rid of all of this. Thanks once again.

Hold on before you format.

I'll email you and you can return it with a log file. You won't have that much wrong with it.

Just keep your eyes peeled for "Viking from comp net" in the title (or some such).
