Comment: im having trouble loading certain web pages,(ie. hotmail.com, scotia online banking)the page will just come up and say its done, but there is just a blank screen. there are no viruses on this computer as i have done the pqremove scan as well as the pandaonlinescan. i was able to go to tdcanadatrust online banking without any problems. ive changed the mtu settings in the router from 1400 to 1392 with no difference. i have removed new.net, save now and any other crap that might be causing any problems.

Reply: (edit)wiener- Before you do anything drastic, try this. Goto control panel, click on internet options, then privacy, and set to accept all cookies. If it is already set to accept all... then click on security, highlight internet, then click on custom level, The first five setting's... make sure they are all enabled. Then click on ok.. then you will get a window asking if you are sure you want to change these settings and click yes. Then click apply and click ok. I hope that helps some.

Reply: (edit)Now that would be drastic...leaving all those "ActiveX" doors wide open w/o even being prompted would be foolish, and IMHO,is not his problem. I still think the fix I offered above will do it.If you guys go to that link, you'll see why I think that.

Reply: (edit)ActiveX controls are among the many types of components that use COM technologies to provide interoperability with other types of COM components and services. ActiveX controls are the third version of OLE controls (OCX) providing a number of enhancments specifically desinged to facilitate distribution of components over high-latency networks and to provide integration of controls into web browsers. These enhancments include features such as incremental rendering and code signing, to allow users to identify the authors of controls before allowing them to execute. Not foolish kid.. far from it. Its what maybe a simple answer to a simple question. It may, on the other hand, not be as simple. But before you go telling someone to download "a fix" do you not think it would be wise to check the most common spot first. If Wiener enables all ActiveX "doors" as you call them, the site then loads, all you do from there is add the site to your trusted list and then if your that worried about ActiveX being " open " then go back set it to prompt... or disbale if your that anal about it.

Reply: (edit)True, adding it to your Trusted Sites zone is a good suggestion. One I forgot to give here, but offered for a similar problem just 3 posts down. The reason I offered and suggested that "fix",is that I've seen several similar problems, whereas the above mentioned fix worked. If you care to allow the downloading of unsigned/not marked as safe ActiveX controls, that's your choice. But to say it's "far from foolish" is,well, foolish,IMHO.

Reply: (edit)I tried all of the above to no avail. I saw on another posting to go to control panel/add and remove programs/internet explorer and click to remove. A box pops up asking if you want to remove, fix etc. Click the button to fix and restart. This fixed the windows media player problem (it wouldn't load) and got me back to all the web pages I want..good luck.
