Hotmail should warn you of a potential threat using the mcafee online virus scanner before being able to downlaod a virus. the choice however is still yours to do so.

Hi! ShtMeUpOrDown!
I'm STUPID,I didn't have it up.Yesterday I was looking for a software conflict.I started my computer with no programs running for the test.I forgot to put this one back in when I finished the test, but,as long as I didn't open the attachments I'm ok.The shield IS UP now!--------------Donald----it's 4:30AM Texas -going to bed

I've been hit with several hack attacks and infected e-mail attachments in the last few days (never got a virus before!). The e-mails had the names of people in my address book who say they never sent me anything. The sircam virus got past both my IP's filters and Norton System Works (I check for new virus defnitions practically evey day). I didn't find the sircam virus until I did a full system scan!
