Wallpaper Issue

CPU/Ram: Gateway Performance 933/

Whenever I put high quality wallpaper on my desktop, my PC slows down dramatically, especially when it boots. It takes FOREVER! It does work fine with the default Gateway wallpaper though. I have a Pentium III processor, 933MHz, and 256MB RAM. It seems like I have a strong enough PC, but you tell me. I would appreciate a little insight on this. Thanks!

One thought that comes to mind is that this is bmp image. bmp images are usually large in size and could take some time to load. Try another image file you may have besides the gateway one. You can find out the size of the image by right clicking on the file and choose properties, it should show you the size and type of file it is (jpg, gif, bmp, etc.).
