W ME-lost control panel after use of twe

Lost 'control panel' after (ab)using TweakUI. System restore stored only initial install, i.e. 2 days of work would be lost. Any possibility of getting control panel back somehow ??? Many thanks in anticipation thomas ('bloody' german)

Problem lies in the registry. If you are comfortable editing the registry you can solve the problem without losing any information. Unfortunately I do not rember the specific edit nessecary. DO a search for sites dealing with registry edits and I think policys is the catagory this problem falls into. I'll look for the key in the mean time and post back if I find it before you do.

You will need to edit the registry since you cannot get to the control panel to change the settings in TweakUI.

try running tweakui.cpl via the run menu it works from win98 i have not tried it on winme.

I am facing a curious (but similar)problem on NT 4.0: After opening the Control Panel, the CP extension applets are refusing to open. However, the .cpl files themselves are running okay,(when run by double clicking the CPL icons from the system directory) .
