Check your Sound card... Control Panel/System/Device Manager and go down to sound,video, and game controllers. Is there a bright yellow exclamation mark? if so, drivers may be not working. If that doesnt work, do you have an application recovery? if so reinstall your sound card. Im pretty sure your problem has to do with your sound card. I had the same problem a while back.
