I have a friend that is having 2 problems... one is that the volume keeps fading in and out. We are in the process of testing whether or not it is a hardware malfunction, but do you guys know of anything that could have to do with Creativelab software doing that to the volume?
Also, her My Computer icon sometimes gets the text ",wea" after the name "My Computer" or something like that every time she boots up. No spyware or viruses detected. Any suggestions?
pullnshoot25, SWAG, nothing more than a shot in the dark. The .wea suffix makes me think of Weatherbug. In the past, a variety of nasties have attached themselves in order to 'sneak' past your defenses. Since you've scanned for a virus unsuccessfully,I suspect a Trojan. Be aware that a virus and a Trojan are similar, but not the same. Many times, an AV detects one it can't clean , other times, it gets missed entirely. If you need to clean one, A² can do the job and you can get it free @: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4281.html among other places. If it turns out that you need to use it, be sure to update prior to running. They just released a new update recently and it changes all the time. Things are in a constant state of flux. HTH.
