Subject: vmm32.vxd problem?OS: windows meCPU/Ram: - |
Comment: hello.....a while back everytime i started my computer i would get: The following file is missing or corrupted: C:\Windows\System\Vmm32.vxd Type the name of the Windows loader (e.g., C:\Windows\System\Vmm32.vxd i made a startup disk using a floppy disk...I put it in, restarted my computer....I chose option #3 (start computer without cd-rom support)......after a little while it says "the diagnostic tools were successfully loaded to drive D"....then it asks me to type in a command at prompt A:\>, but i don't know what to type in there. if anyone can help me i would appreciate it so much..ive looked at past forums, but theyve all been too confusing for me. thanks in advance!!

Reply: (edit)hi....i don't think that applies to me, and if it does, that website is way too confusing to understand. If anyone knows just what i have to type in after the A:\> command, it will help so much. thanks again!

Reply: (edit)If vmm32.vxd is missing or corrupted you usually have to reinstall Windows, because it is a file that is specific to your hardware and is built at installation. Unless you have a backup of it from your system (NOT from the Windows disk - that file is just the empty shell in which your personalised version is built) Have a look at Dave's post here http://computing.net/windowsme/wwwboard/forum/30687.html and also at my homepage here http://www.burzurq.com/forum/trevtweak.html especially points 17,18
