get rid of bullguard as might be part of problem, download ad-aware se from lavasoft to check for spyware & run avg with its updates in safe mode & see what happens

Mel,

Some things, already mentioned, at one time;

 Lavasoft - Ad-Aware
{install it, update it, then use to fix things)

 Spybot-S&D! Home
{install it, update it, then use to fix things}

 Troubleshooting ME Startup Problems
{will tell how to start in safe mode, also how to restore a good/working registry ect.}

 Security Tools
{should of put that one first ;-) could of saved some typing}

By "caught", do you mean, was not put on the computer, or was cleaned up by the programs.

If you have questions, on any of those, ask for assistance. Someone should be able to lend a hand, in helping you.

Good Luck,
CrazyOne

Keep in mind that even Windows ME has system restore, and virus/trojans can find their way to the Restore Points. When you run AVG and it finds one of these buggers in the System Volume Information, or _restore folders, disable it re-enable it and restart to get rid of it in these areas, and it will create a fresh System Restore Point.
