I am running Windows ME obviously. Norton caught a Trojan Horse in the following files and they could not be repaired: 1) c:\windows\winserv.exe 2) c:\windows\systb.dll 3) c:\windows\winobject.dll
Since Norton could not repair these files, I deleted them completely. My question is, are these files of great importance. In other words, do I need these files for Windows or any other significant progam to run properly. If so, what is the best way to get new copies of these files.

You can extract new copies of them from Windows ME CD I believe.

Did you manage to restore the files. I too have these files quarantined by the norton virus software.
If you have restored have you noticed any change in the performance of the computer.

the 3 above mentioned files are indeed a trojan package. Whether they are part of a hacker attempt or a seriously misguided unscrupulous web portal(ieplugins.com), I'm not sure, but you should delete or rename the files and then reboot. Should you get a message telling you that the files are in use, then you will have to do this a Dos prompt.
